For we are to God the aroma of Christ...
When we first began to meet at Meanwood, we were not an independent church but simply one of the congregations in the Sharing Life Baptist Church Network. We called ourselves Meanwood Christian Community because it described where we were located and what we were about. In 2002, we became a self-supporting church, members of the Yorkshire Baptist Association and affiliated to the Baptist Union of Great Britain. In fact, we are part of one of the largest Christian churches in the world. We are now known as Meanwood Valley Baptist Church.

Some years ago, those of us who live in the Meanwood area wanted to see an active Christian church operating here. Some Christians see the job of the Church as being there mainly for those who already believe in God and want to worship Him in a particular way. We believe that God is offering good news to all sorts of people from all sorts of backgrounds. He's not just interested in the religious types but all kinds of people regardless of the "labels" (religious or otherwise) that they may have been given by society at large. So, we're here to try and demonstrate that God loves all people and that knowing Him gives life a whole new meaning and fulfilment... whoever we may be.

We believe in Jesus Christ - his life, teaching, death and resurrection - we have found someone who gives shape and direction to our lives. We believe that He can do the same for anyone. We believe that He wants to do this for everyone. He said that He had come to give "life in all its fullness". We believe that settling for anything less than that is a waste of our lives.
We are trying to pass on the good news of Jesus Christ by expressing His love in practical ways through our daily living and by explaining to people of all ages how they can come to know Jesus as Saviour and Lord. Our aim is to work together to help every believer reach his or her full potential in Christ. As part of that, we have a good working relationship with other churches in Meanwood and throughout North Leeds.
You can find us every Sunday morning in the Meanwood Community Centre just off Stainbeck Avenue. We get together at 10:30am, starting off in the lounge with light refreshments and a chance to catch up on how things are going. At about 11am, we move into the main hall for our service of worship and finish by 12:30pm.
We also meet in small groups during the week at various homes around the area. If you would like to get more involved with what we're doing, you would be very welcome at any of these. Please contact our minister, Andy, for further details.
